Hormonal Acne Remedies
Dang It's that time of the month again already?! Skin breaking out in huge pimples but you got things to do and places to be? Don’t fret girl, we got the secret to calming those newly inflamed additions.
Hormonal acne is a type of acne that forms as a result of fluctuations in the levels hormones your body produces. It’s usually the result of male hormones such as testosterone (yes, even as a woman, your body produces a small amount of testosterone) and other androgens.
It’s common. It’s also sometimes predictable, with hormonal acne outbreaks often occurring at the same time as your period. It’s also highly annoying, affecting everything from your appearance to your self-confidence. Blessfully, like other forms of acne, hormonal acne can be treated. Using a combination of safe, over-the-counter products and small changes to your lifestyle, it’s very possible to take control of your hormonal acne and minimize the effects of outbreaks.
Everyone has a different sensitivity to certain hormones, meaning an increase in hormone levels that could cause one person to break out with acne could have no effect on a person with lower sensitivity to acne-causing hormones. If you are suffering from moderately high symptoms of hormonal acne each month please contact your physician.
We are going to dive into a couple treatments we think you should give a try. The natural way is often times proven to be the best way. Make sure you are taking care of your body and watching what you allow inside of it. As within so without, so we want to make sure we stay away from foods that cause further inflammation such as processed sugars, dairy products, refined carbs, and red meats. Try to implement drinking 2-3 cups of tea daily during the days leading up to PMS and during. Green Tea, Ginger, and Turmeric are herbs known for their highly effective anti-inflammatory properties so incorporate them into your daily consumption.
We have also created a simple two step skin care rescue routine that will noticeably bring down inflammation after one treatment. The first step is a herbal face steam. Face steaming has so many wonderful benefits for the skin. Facial steams release acne-causing bacteria and cells. Opening up your pores allows the release of dead skin cells, bacteria, and other impurities that clog the pores. They also stimulate blood flow and oxygen which therefore minimizes inflammation. This facial steam contains Lavender, Chamomile, and Rose Buds. These three herbs mixed together create a harmonic blend for calming and soothing the skin. They are affordable and common so you can get a hold of them at any local natural store.
The second part of the skin care routine is a mask. The mask is jam packed with natural herbs and ingredients known to soothe the skin and deliver necessary vitamins as well. Below is a list of the ingredients and their benefits that make this the ultimate anti-inflammatory mask.
Neem- The anti-bacterial, antifungal and anti-viral properties, applying neem topically can also treat skin infections, soothe irritation and reduce inflammation without drying the skin.
Turmeric- The curcumin found in turmeric can help minimize pimples by decreasing inflammation and oxidation.
Bentonite Clay- Helps to remove sebum, or oil, from the skin's surface, and it also has a calming effect on inflamed breakouts.
Aloe Vera- Known as the plant of youth and healing. It contains antioxidants, enzymes, Vitamins A and C, and it is highly anti-inflammatory.
Witch Hazel- Has many benefits for skin, including relieving inflammation, tightening pores, and helping with razor bumps. It also reduces acne, since it can cleanse your skin of excess oil.
Tea Tree Oil- Well known for its anti-inflammatory effects, tea tree oil helps to soothe and relieve painful and irritated skin. It may also help to reduce redness and swelling.
Rosehip oil- Rosehip is rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant known for its anti-inflammatory effects.
This is merely a routine that has been tried and tested by regular girls just like you who struggle with hormonal acne. These recipe ingredients are all listed on the amazon list below, under $50 for a one time purchase that will last you up to a year of usage!
